From your NEW President
Karen Jeffers Happy Summer Everyone!
For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Karen Jeffers and I am the Marketing Director for Scott State Bank based at our Mt. Zion location. I have been active in the Mt. Zion Chamber since 2013 and a board member since June, 2014. I am very excited about my new role as President and look forward to meet- ing all of you.
I always like to start with Thank-Yous. First, I want to thank Kyle Pflum for his outstanding tenure as Chamber President. His enthusiasm, dedication and countless hours of service are greatly appreciated. We are fortunate that Kyle is going to remain an active member of the chamber. Thanks again Kyle!!! I want to also thank Sue Homes for doing a great job as administrator as well as her dedica- tion to the Chamber. Sue has accepted a full-time position with the State of Illi- nois. We will miss Sue but wish her much success in her new job.
Summer is in full swing and July is here already! It’s hard not to associate July with fireworks & festivals. On that note, Blue Ribbon Night is Sunday, July 3rd at Fletcher Park. This fabulous family friendly event kicks off at 6:00 pm. The band MissConduct starts at 7:00 with fireworks at dusk. The Chamber is once again selling Papa Murphy’s Pizza, bottled water, Pepsi products, popcorn and snow cones. This event is a major fundraiser for the Chamber so your support is greatly appreciated.
The Chamber is gearing up for another successful year. June is the start of our 2016-17 fiscal year and we have a lot of exciting news to share. I first would like to congratulate Becky Hamilton on her new position as our Chamber Adminis- trator. When I think of Becky’s long history with the Mt. Zion Chamber the old ad- age comes to mind “And the person who needs no introduction is …” Becky will be taking a very active role as administrator. She has lots of ideas and boundless en- ergy. The Chamber is very fortunate to have her in this role. I will be relying on her extensive business and chamber knowledge as I transition into the role of President. Other events on the horizon will be the 2016 Prayer Breakfast, 2017 EXPO & Taste and the Annual Mt. Zion Chamber Banquet. This coming April 2017 will start our year-long 30th Anniversary Celebration. We are already starting to make plans to celebrate this very important milestone.
Lastly, don’t forget to make your reservation for our July 13th
luncheon at the Main Hanger. Our speaker will be Chris Phillips, Vice President of Marketing for Land of Lincoln Credit Union. Chris will be presenting on the topic of Overcoming Barriers to Problem Solving. You won’t want to miss it!
I wish all of you a sensational summer filled with family, friends & fun!
With Warm Regards, Karen
